[edit]
File:Thamewali near Bus Stop.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Is Category:Thamewali 2022 intended as a user category or a public topical category? It is not correctly set up to be either one or the other. - Jmabel ! talk 22:47, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I see no indication that this account is in any way blocked on Commons. What (if anything) are you trying to do and being prevented from doing? - Jmabel ! talk 05:25, 13 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Category discussion warning

Legacy of Thamewali has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you!

Unable to Open Wikimedia Commons in Desktop Mode from Pakistan

[edit]

Hello sir, I am facing an issue accessing commons.wikimedia.org. When I open the site on my mobile (in mobile version), it works fine. However, when I try to open it in desktop mode (both on mobile browsers and on PC), it shows the following error:

This site can’t be reached Check if there is a typo in commons.wikimedia.org If spelling is correct, try running Windows Network Diagnostics. DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

I have tried this on 5+ different mobiles and PCs, including my friends’ devices, but the issue remains the same. If I use a VPN, the site opens but shows a message that “editing is blocked.”

I am located in Pakistan, and I am not sure if this is due to a block, policy restriction, or a DNS issue. Could you please guide me on what is causing this and how to fix it?

Thank you for your help.

I happen to be watching this page, but you really did nothing here to get anyone's attention (no one is pinged, and you wrote this on your own user talk page). I'll bring it to the Village pump and see if anyone can help you. - Jmabel ! talk 05:42, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
@SohaibAhmadu This means a DNS resolution error. Essentially, your provider is not returning an ip address for the name commons.wikimedia.org. This can be for a variety of reasons, from a technical mistake on their end, to a transient issue along the way or even intentional. You might want to try adding a public DNS like google's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, to the DNS settings of your configuration. This might solve your immediate problem for you personally. —TheDJ (talkcontribs) 08:26, 11 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
