Here I am in the lobby of a hotel in New York City on a trip sponsored by Thespian groups from several Indiana high schools. I believe I'm holding a stick of burning incense which may account for the haze around my face. Note also the green trench-coat with sleeves rolled up to the elbows, the large crucifix earring, and the faux leopard-skin leather tie. I forget the name of the guy in the orange shirt, but I seem to recall him making a scene at Sardi's because his pork chop was burnt. (I think it was intentionally blackened, Cajun-style.) After the trip I embellished the story to have him waving the pork chop around on his fork demanding the waiter take it back. Forgive me. This photo was taken by Tina Walker, a girl I met on the trip. We corresponded a few times over the next year. She had cancer, and she passed away a short time later. I barely knew her, but I think of her frequently. New York City, 1985 |
